Anthony Allison is the executive director of Norwalk ACTS

Shout Out to the members of Norwalk ACTS’ TEAM Summer who, during last week’s monthly meeting, rolled up their sleeves to outline a Memorandum of Agreement and a Community Awareness Campaign as part of their Action Plan. TEAM Summer includes more than 20 Norwalk summer learning and enrichment program providers that have banded together to serve more kids better in Summer 2017 and beyond.

TEAM Summer is building a better summer system in Norwalk where an increasing number of youth are provided with high-quality summer learning opportunities that meet academic, social/emotional and health/wellness needs. Providers and stakeholders packed the room and generated some exciting plans that include an interactive Summer Resource Map for the community, a logo contest for children and a Summer Camp Fair. More details to follow after their February meeting and MOA signing! For more information, or to join TEAM Summer, please contact Kate Ritter at [email protected] or Tricia Massucco at [email protected]

Shout Out to Westport-based Newman’s Own Foundation for providing a $10,000 grant to Norwalk ACTS Member Person-to-Person (P2P) to support the Norwalk Emergency Assistance Program. The Program provides food, clothing and financial assistance, helps meet the immediate need of the working poor — such as food insecurity or the threat of eviction — and offers casework services to guide clients toward self-sufficiency.

Newman’s Own Foundation turns all net profits and royalties from the sale of Newman’s Own products into charitable donations. To date, Paul Newman and the Foundation have given over $475 million to thousands of charities around the world.

About this site

NancyOnNorwwalk.com was conceived as the place to go for Norwalk residents to get the real, unvarnished story about what is going on in and around their city. NancyOnNorwalk does not intend to be a print newspaper online; rather, it exists to pull the curtain back and shine a spotlight on how Norwalk is run and what is happening regarding issues that have an impact on taxpayers’ pocketbooks and safety. As an independent site, NancyOnNorwalk’s first and only allegiance is to the reader.

About Nancy

Nancy came to Norwalk in September 2010 and, after reporting on Norwalk for two years for another company, resigned to begin Nancy On Norwalk so she engage in journalism the way it was meant to be done. She is married to career journalist Mark Chapman, has a son, Eric (the artist and web designer who built this website), and two cats – a middle-aged lady and a young hottie who are learning how to peacefully co-exist.
