Gatto named Norwalk fire chief

Correction, Feb. 24: Chief Gatto lives in Fairfield. 

NORWALK – Norwalk’s new fire chief is Gino Gatto.

Gatto, who was made assistant chief in December 2015 and has been serving as acting fire chief since May, was awarded a 1.5 year contract at Tuesday’s Fire Commission meeting. He replaces Chief Laurence Reilly, who retired in May.

Gatto, 64, has been a member of the Norwalk Fire Department since 1982, according to his Facebook page. He was deputy fire chief before becoming assistant chief.

Gatto lives in Fairfield, and received an associate’s degree from Norwalk State Technical College, back in the day.

wonder how many long time qualified Norwalk firefighters also wanted the job that still live in Norwalk?

Its a trick question none come from Orange 27 miles away,

back in the lacked fire science as well.
