Norwalk plants trees at Roodner Court

NORWALK, Conn. — A grant obtained by Norwalk Community College has funded 12 new trees at Roodner Court.

NCC Professor of Environmental Science Erica Kipp submitted the winning grant proposal to TD Bank’s “TD Green Streets,” and NCC students volunteered Friday to help plant the trees.

A ceremony was held in a yard adjacent to the Roodner Court learning center, and trees were planted elsewhere in the Ely Avenue public housing complex. Speakers at the ceremony said they were “canopy trees:” four Pin Oaks, four Swamp Oaks and four London Plains.

The plantings were done in collaboration with the City of Norwalk Tree Advisory Committee and Norwalk Housing Authority, according to a press release.

thank you so much! It was a fabulous experience. Cannot think of a better way to spend a Friday afternoon than planting trees with neighbors!
