BREAKING: NoN readership wins on Giving Day

NancyOnNorwalk readers showed love Thursday for their local news site, with 58 reader donations winning a share of a $20,000 bonus pool for the nonprofit.

“Nonprofit journalism in Norwalk will continue thanks to generous reader gifts today and during NewsMatch,” Bob Welsh, NoN Board Chair, said Thursday evening.

“Reader gifts make NancyOnNorwalk’s fearless watchdog journalism possible, and we are deeply grateful,” Welsh said.

“Special thanks also to an anonymous family foundation for a generous gift today.”

“I’m surprised and impressed by the generosity. Thanks to everyone who has chipped in,” Chapman wrote in an e-mail Thursday evening from City Hall, where she was covering a meeting.

For more than six years, Chapman has worked tirelessly, for less than a living wage, to report local news about Norwalk government, zoning, and schools.  Revenue growth in 2018 and early 2019 allows the news site to compensate Chapman more fairly and consider ways to grow and better serve readers.

Giving Day is sponsored by the Fairfield County Community Foundation.
