Updated, 1 p.m.: Stroffolino Bridge schedule has been cut back.
NORWALK, Conn. – Stay away from the SoNo portion of West Avenue tonight, Sunday, Oct. 6. Likewise the Stroffolino Bridge area Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, and possibly Monday through Wednesday evenings in the coming weeks.
West Avenue at Interstate 95
Beware West Avenue from 7 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.
“A private contractor for The SoNo Collection will be paving a portion of West Avenue, the I-95 northbound Exit 15 on ramp at West Avenue, and the Route 7 SoNo off ramp to West Avenue,” a press release said. “Both the I-95N on ramp and Route 7 off ramp will be closed to all traffic. Additionally, Pine Street Extension will be closed, and West Avenue will be closed to vehicles between Garner Street and the I-95N on ramp. Local traffic will be permitted.”
Residents can access Putnam Avenue and Pine Street via the intersection of West Avenue and Pine Street.
The press release said:
“Detours will be in place. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through detours and around the work zone. Additional state and local police officers will be present. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity. Delays should be expected and alternate routes are encouraged.
“The City of Norwalk and Norwalk Police Department worked closely with The SoNo Collection and State of Connecticut on this project to limit disruption. A complete closure for one night will ultimately be less disruptive than work on multiple days and nights.
“Please be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule might become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
