NORWALK, Conn. — Some Norwalk holiday happenings:
- Tree lighting planned for Dec. 6
- A Secret Santa in SoNo
- Beach snowman to dance with Santa
Norwalk Holiday Tree Lighting
The Norwalk City Hall Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is planned for 6-7:15 p.m. Friday Dec. 6 on the City Hall front lawn, located at 125 East Ave. In case of rain, the ceremony will take place in the concert hall.
SoNo “Secret Santa” will bring toys galore
More than 100 new toys were donated to Common Council member Ernie Dumas’ 21st annual South Norwalk Secret Santa Program by attendees at September’s “Walter Camp Day” ceremony at Yale Bowl. In his role as Walter Camp Football Foundation President, Norwalk Corporation Counsel Mario Coppola facilitated the donation at Mayor Harry Rilling’s request.
“Ernie runs a great program in South Norwalk that makes a true difference in the community,” said Mayor Rilling on Tuesday as he presented the toys to Dumas, who thanked the Mayor, remarking that “These donations will help make Christmas a little brighter for dozens of families in South Norwalk.”
Dance with the snowman at Calf Pasture
The Dancing Snowman and Santa Claus will be on hand from noon until just past sunset Sunday Dec. 7 at Ripka’s Beach Café located at 99 Calf Pasture Road. The sale of trees, wreaths and decoration kits with continue into Dec. 8, a weekend event at Ripka’s. Proceeds from the sale and from a raffle to win a catered lobster bake for six will be donated to The Marvin “Under One Roof” intergenerational senior housing/pre-school childcare center. Also, a Christmas cookie sale will benefit the Marvin Elementary School PTA. All takers will enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, hot dogs and s’mores by the fire pits.
