About Nancy
Nancy came to Norwalk in September 2010 and, after reporting on Norwalk for two years for another company, launched NancyOnNorwalk.com with her husband Mark Chapman so they could engage in journalism the way it was meant to be done. Sadly Mark, a career journalist and NoN editor, died in 2016.
Nancy kept at it, and her team has grown to include a volunteer Board of Directors plus freelance writers, editors, and videographers dedicated to covering Norwalk. In 2019, NancyOnNorwalk was recognized by the Connecticut Chapter of the Society for Professional Journalist for excellence in journalism, winning several awards including its coveted First Amendment Award. SPJ recognized NancyOnNorwalk again in 2020, with eight awards.
Nancy has a son, Eric, the web developer who designed and built this site. Nancy also has two cats – a senior beauty and a youthful cutie who offer comfort and company while Nancy works. Her favorite color is purple.

What a mess! I think the plow drivers can’t always see where the curbs are and overshoot. DPW repaired the grassy area by our curb several years ago from snow plowing damage, and they will no doubt do the same on Fillow Street.

Whom ever is driving the plows needs glasses. They are awful. I could do better even after a bottle of scotch and blindfolded.

Unfair Nancy that you post this nonsense from Paul Cantor. These guys work hard in a storm. Maybe the driver slipped on ice and hit some grass. They will fix it. No need to attack them

If you have ever driven a plow truck you’d understand that it can be very difficult to see where you are going at times. From the defroster and heater running full blast to blinding snow to the windshield wipers iced up and not being able to figure out where the road actuality is.
Mitch, challenge accepted. Next big snow storm. Meet at Tysen’s garage, I’ll bring a truck with the 9 foot plow. We’ll go plow one of my private roads, after plowing at 4am for 6 hours. Heat at 90, windows up, iced up wipers with snow coming down at 2 inches an hour with no markers or street lights to know where the curds are.
Tysen is correct. Give the hard worker guys a break. Offer the drivers some hot chocolate and snacks.
I think it was Mayor O’Connor who was the last mayor that would take time to go down to the DPW garage and ride with the plow drivers. Ya won’t see todays mayor or chief of a paycheck do that.

Give these guys a break, they have parked cars they go around, people throwing snow in the roads they already plowed. If this bothers you so much, spend 10-20 dollars and put flashers up along the road. Complaints with no solutions.
