NORWALK, Conn. – With the municipal election just over a week away, NancyOnNorwalk invited the “downticket” candidates – taxing district, sheriff, constable, selectmen and treasurer – to submit some information to help voters get to them.
Brian J. Smith, a lifelong Norwalker, is running for re-election as selectman, an office he has held since 1981, on the Republican ticket.
Selectmen assist the registrar of voters, and say he enjoys the position because he is “friendl;y and likes helping people.”
He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1975 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science from Iona College and a WMBA from the University of New Haven in 1991.
Smith is married and has a step-daughter.
He has worked in accounts payable for Dunkin’ Donuts franchise stores in Arizona, Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
