Updated, April 23, 2018: resume removed at Mr. Cahn’s request. Updated 6:06 p.m. to add résumé link.

To the editor:

I am a candidate for Common Council in District A. First, however, I am a resident and a voter in District A. Those facts are actually what informed my choice to run in the first place.

I have been seeing repeatedly that although having been asked, “endorsed District A candidates have not provided résumés.” In the interest of fairness, I should point out that up to now, this group included myself. If I were only voting and not running, I can’t help but believe that I’d be starting to feel awfully frustrated.

It’s true that the provision of a résumé or bio is not “required” of candidates. That said, I think that it’s not unreasonable to suggest that it’s common sense that information of that sort would be expected from the candidates who are asking the voters to support and partner with them. Certainly, as a voter, it is absolutely MY expectation that this information be provided. Or at the very least, a reasonable explanation as to why it hasn’t been provided yet along with a time frame as to when it should be expected.

I encourage all of my fellow candidates to commit to providing a résumé or a bio. I think that while we may disagree on some points, we can all agree that transparency and accessibility is of the utmost importance in government and especially when we are putting ourselves forward to represent Norwalk’s residents.

Very best of luck to all who have answered the call to run! I look forward to seeing each of you during campaign season!

James Cahn

Editor’s note: We have not yet approached Mr. Cahn about his credentials, nor have we yet approached most of the candidates who are not involved in primaries. Mr. Cahn provided his résumé without being asked.
