NORWALK, Conn. — The Norwalk Stamford Grassroots Tennis & Education (NSGTE) nonprofit has been selected as one of 40 recipients across 21 states and the District of Columbia to receive a $20,000 grant from the New York Life Foundation through its 2026 Aim High initiative.
“We are honored to receive this investment,” said DJ Rouzeau, executive director of the organization. “This support allows us to continue helping young people successfully transition from middle school into high school.”
The initiative, created through a partnership between the foundation and advocacy nonprofit Afterschool Alliance, supports “outstanding afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs serving middle school youth.”
Since 1995, Grassroots has utilized tennis and education to inspire and teach Norwalk’s middle and high school students to build a “foundation for success on the tennis court, in the classroom, and in life.”
The one-year grant will support NSGTE’s general operating expenses, after school and summer camp programming including junior coaching leadership and mentorship, tennis training, mental wellness and academic help, according to a press release.
