Help us do what we do: Support NoN

NORWALK, Conn. – It’s that time again – the time we come to you, our readers, and ask that you show your support for what we do.

Many of you are new to NancyOnNorwalk, having found your way here during the mosque controversy, or, a bit early, through the 2 Nearwater Road situation. Others came aboard during the primary election. And the majority have been with us for a while now as we look forward to our second anniversary next month.

For those who don’t know – and as a reminder for the rest of you – this site is a fulltime job for two professional journalists for whom it is the sole source of income, and a parttime job for our adult son, who, fortunately, is currently employed as a contract worker in the website department at WWE in Stamford.

We depend on your donations to pay the rent, utilities, and other expenses any normal salary would pay. We work from home, and drive cars made before the turn of the century. We keep overhead low, but this is Fairfield County.

An update on NoN’s status:

We are doing business now as Chapman Hyperlocal Media Inc., a registered Connecticut non-profit corporation, and we have applied for 501c3 status. If we are granted the status, as expected, then all donations dating to formation of the non-profit corporation (April 2, 2014) will be tax deductible. We have elected a Board of Directors and it is posted under Welcome to NancyOnNorwalk at the bottom of the homepage on the right.

We are asking all our readers to consider showing their support in one of two ways:

  • Make a donation today, either through our donation button near the top of the page on the right, or by check made out to NancyOnNorwalk and sent to P.O. Box 525, Norwalk, CT 06852. Or…
  • Come to our next fundraiser, Sept. 25 at the Norwalk Inn! Details will be announced shortly in a separate story. It promises to be our biggest and best event yet, with great food, a live band and a gorgeous venue!

So help us keep bringing you the kind of issues-based coverage you’ve come to expect from NoN as we pursue our mission of shining a light on Norwalk’s government to let taxpayers know how their money is being spent and how their elected and appointed representatives are performing in the taxpayers’ names.

Donated – but was redirected to Englewood Edge? Is that correct?

    1. Mark Chapman

Yes, and thank you! We are working on changing that. We used to be under the umbrella of Englewood Edge LLC, the company we began in Florida for our other site, a small subscription site. Our donation button works through PayPal and is still linked to that name.

Rachel Maddow had a little ditty the other night about supporting your local paper via subscription or pay wall in order not to loose independent journalism. I immediately thought of you guys, she is right, we need to support journalist like you. So many papers have either closed down or let go most of their reporters, (like The Hour), that leave us, the public, in the dark, not knowing what is going on in our local government, our towns and cities. You guys keep us informed and the politicians accountable, that right there is worth the few bucks it cost us….

Thursday is the first day-night of Rosh Hashanah–that leaves some of us out that would like to attend.

I’m looking for the donation button. It’s not showing up on my tablet.

      @Lifelong Teacher

Try clicking on this link. Ignore the Englewood Edge header. We’ll look into why that is not showing up. I that an iPad?

  6. Lifelong Teacher

    Yes, it’s an iPad.

After multiple attempts, it still says ‘last transaction cannot be completed,” and directs me back to your site. Will try on my computer tomorrow. Like so many people, I’ve come to rely on NON more and more for local news.
