Vinny Mangiacopra is the Democratic chairman of District D.
To the Editor:
Getting involved in public service isn’t easy. It takes a thick skin, positive attitude and relentless work ethic. For as much good that one wants to do for the community, it can be met with unwarranted resistance. That’s why change is hard.
When I met Warren Peña a few years back, it was clear to me from the onset that he would be someone willing to step up and fight for that necessary change that has eluded our community. It was evident that he was a workhorse and not just a show horse. We all know that we have had our share of those.
Warren’s work in the community has been tireless and he has done the hard work to help lay the foundation for better days in Norwalk. His work as a councilman was laced with standing up for those in need while not losing site that many of our residents are filled with frustration and disappointment in the “same old Norwalk.”
Tuesday is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity for us to have a new face representing those pent up frustrations. Tuesday is an opportunity to give someone new a shot to do the job better.
The things that this neighborhood values most are what drive Warren to go out there and continue to be a voice for progress. As your State Representative in Hartford you can count on him to be an advocate for:
• Increased opportunities for Norwalkers to grow and prosper.
• Stronger schools through more state aid.
• Property tax reform that allows families to stay in Norwalk for generations to come.
There is no question that Warren knows Norwalk’s future is now. We can’t afford to wait any longer. On Tuesday, I urge you to support his tenacity and efforts. It will make a difference.
