HARTFORD, Conn. – Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman claimed Wednesday that they’ve reached the goal of raising $250,000 in small donations to qualify for $6 million in public financing.
The state Elections Enforcement Commission will still need to certify the donations after an audit. The next filing period isn’t until July 10, so it’s still unclear who may have donated to the campaign.
Since Malloy didn’t file his campaign committee until the end of March there are still no public records of the fundraising.
The only other gubernatorial candidate to claim he qualified is Malloy’s 2010 Republican opponent, Tom Foley.
