Mangiacopra is the leader Norwalk needs

By Common Councilman Warren Peña

(D-At Large)

NORWALK, Conn. – I am supporting Vinny Mangiacopra for mayor this year and I’d like to share how my unique perspective as a Common Council member has led me to this decision.

Vinny personally recruited me to run for Common Council and helped me navigate the many challenges that arose during the campaign. What struck me about Vinny as we worked together was his ability to work with people from all walks of life and draw a consensus among those with a diverse set of opinions. Anyone who is familiar with lack of cohesiveness at City Hall knows that we could use a leader who’s an effective communicator and uniter. When you deal with Vinny, you quickly realize that he’s worked in government before and understands how to gather everyone’s opinion and move debate towards resolution.

What’s also admirable about his leadership style is his eagerness to have everyone’s opinion heard —especially the opinion of those who historically haven’t gotten the representation they deserve. I’ve seen firsthand that Vinny is ready and willing to represent us all.

That is exactly what Norwalk needs: new leadership that offers a fresh approach to the way Norwalk does business. But Vinny brings more to the table.

Leadership is also about vision.  The future of Norwalk is at stake in this election. We can’t keep going to the same well for answers to the challenges that continue to plague this city. We need a mayor who will do more than cut ribbons and run the city’s day-to-day operations. We need a mayor who looks to the future and has a plan for a better Norwalk. Vinny is the only candidate in this race who has offered a real plan to create long term prosperity and improvement for the city.

That’s what I believe Vinny brings to the table. He is the only candidate with a plan, and the experience to get it done. I hope you will join me in my support of Vinny, and help us realize our demand for Norwalk’s Future Now in November.

I must have missed something – what exactly is Vinny’s real plan?

Vinny has a little “community organizer” in him, replete with a golden-tongued, pied piper bent. Warren: We all know from recent and excruciating experience how much “prosperity” a pied piper community organizer can create; don’t we?

    A notable quote:
“Mangiacopra, 31, provided (Ernie, the convicted felon) Newton a nice tagline for his senate race in which Newton finished a close second to Andres Ayala in the (Bridgeport) Democratic primary. ‘The message of redemption and opportunity was always bigger than one person, one individual and one politician,’ says Mangiacopra. ‘It is a community message aimed to shine a brighter light on our neediest citizens, those that are most vulnerable and consistently at risk.’”

Depending on the outcome of the council elections, we just may see “Vinnycare” in Norwalk. “Vinnycare” doesn’t need to be medical… It can be taxpayer money giveaways funneled through SNCC .. or maybe even (gulp…for Warren) NEON.

    God help us.

Moccia had 8 years and still has no plan to create long term prosperity and improvement for the city.”
I must have missed something – what exactly is Moccia’s real plan?

Vinny has be instrumental in getting younger Norwalk residents involved in politics and that is exactly what this city needs. New blood and new views to help get this city moving again. The same people, both Democrats and Republicans, have been representing us for too long. We need to weed out the “old boys club” and get a new vision in. Joe Espo-BTW enough of the Ernie Newton stuff. Vinny was clearly not involved with any of the finances. If you are looking real issues of corruption and mismanagement there are plenty here in Norwalk to discuss with our city sheriff, board of education, NEON and police department scandals.

Yes we need change..However Vinny is NOT it. He is a child with ZERO experience .. He is also for all pratical purposes is used car salesmen. Maybe he can comeback in 20 years.

Tim T: You seem to be all over the place!! You love to criticise everyone yet have no solutions. Just who are you and who do you feel would be the best candidate? We know who you dislike – who do you like?

Last i check this article was not about me but about
“Mangiacopra is the leader Norwalk needs”

You seem to have issues that I don’t have the same opinion as yours. Also you seem to think the way to show support for your candidate is to lamely attempt attack others who have a different view than you have as you have shown in this article and as you did in this one.

I find it comical that you would say that I am all over the board as that is one thing I have never been accused of.
Let me help you with some insight to my views and who I support.
    Moccia is Rilling
    And
    Rilling is Moccia
and they are failures as far as I am concerned

Vinny is a child with ZERO experience and as far as I am concerned a used car salesmen

Andy truly cares about Norwalk and did a fanatic job modernizing the town clerk’s office
Mike is a proven leader with real ideas and a true education.
So I clearly support Andy or Mike
    Now do you understand?????????
