HARTFORD, Conn. – A new ad from Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s re-election campaign features Nicole Hockley, a Newtown mother whose son, Dylan, was among the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting.

“Gov. Malloy has the courage and conviction to stand up and do the right thing,” Hockley says during the 30-second TV spot released Monday. Hockley serves as communications director of the nonprofit group Sandy Hook Promise. She is identified in the ad simply as, “Nicole Hockley, Newtown, CT.”

The campaign commercial, called “Determination,” is the Malloy campaign’s second during this election cycle.

  1. One and Done.

It doesn’t get much lower than using this tragedy to promote his re-election. Shameful.

    Scum-bag move by Malloy.

Fault Malloy all you want for any number of decisions his administration has made, but his handling of the Sandy Hook tradgedy was highly commendable. He showed compassion and resolve and listened to and lobbied for the parents. Sadly, the event is now part of his record in office. Elections are about a candidates record, good and bad. His performance speaks to the kind of leader he has been during difficult times, and I think his campaign has highlighted this in a respectful way.

Connecticut, ground zero for the nationwide movement for destruction of the 2nd amendment. I urge everyone to read the 2nd amendment and understand that it isn’t about guns but about protecting government of the people, by the people, for the people.
