NORWALK, Conn. — Hot lighting, cool drinks, big-screen video, mid-century throwback furnishings and a party-time atmosphere.

If that’s how you roll, you’re in luck – Bowlmor Lanes is coming to Norwalk, and the upscale sports entertainment spot wants you to, well, bowl more.

Bowlmor Lanes will become Connecticut’s first-ever boutique bowling alley when it opens Dec. 5 in the former Rip Van Winkle Lanes space at 701 Connecticut Ave.

According to a Bowlmor press release, the 38-lane bowling alley will feature “best-in-class bowling, an adrenaline-pumping laser tag arena, inventive food and drink selections, and superior service all set against a stunning luxe backdrop.”

That “stunning luxe backdrop” is designed by Studio Lemonade, and will feature a blend of mid-century modern with East Coast architectural designs to create a contemporary, sleek space, the release says. The lanes at Bowlmor Norwalk will include a blue acrylic finish that gives off an exotic glow, “one reminiscent of lounging by a poolside cabana.” There’s a centralized fireplace, classic Eames loungers, “Mad Men”-style sofas, vintage artwork from the 1970’s, and a grand bowstring truss ceiling that creates a wide-open space that’s perfect for events. Lighting from Sputnik lamps and vintage sconces adds to the atmosphere.

There will be oversized video screens at the end of each lane, high-definition flat-screen TV’s throughout, and a fully equipped DJ booth. The new location will feature a futuristic laser tag arena where teams can battle it out and embark on an urban mission virtual adventure. In addition, the venue’s gaming center will house an arcade.

Beyond the games, Bowlmor Norwalk will feature a full-service kitchen serving signature items such as the 5-pound Behemoth Burger (made for sharing), The Ultimate Grilled Cheese, Dolce Pollo Barbeque Flatbread, and Monster Cookie Melt. The menu was crafted by Bowlmor AMF Executive Chef Edward Porter, recent winner of Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games” cooking competition, the release stated. Complementing these culinary offerings are Bowlmor’s original cocktails like the “Madhattan” and the “Speakeasy Sangria.

Bowlmor has New York City locations in Times Square and Chelsea Piers and another in Melville, Long Island, with 340 domestic locations and eight in Mexico, the release states. For more information see the website.
