Norwalk: Beware Your Flood Soaked Appliances

NORWALK, Conn. – Your flood damaged appliance might look OK, but the city of Norwalk is strongly warning you not to use it.

“Do not use appliances if any part has been underwater,” reads an announcement on the city’s website. “A flood-damaged appliance is extremely dangerous. Attempts to use the appliance can result in fire or explosion.”

The city warns advises you to contact a qualified service agency to inspect the appliance and to replace all controls, control system parts and electrical parts that have been wet, or the appliance in its entirety if necessary.
