NORWALK, Conn. — Several hundred marchers and revelers observed St. Patrick’s Day eight days early with a parade through South Norwalk Saturday morning.
Irish step dancers, pipe bands, and police and fire vehicles entertained onlookers at Norwalk’s fourth annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized by the Norwalk Police Department Emerald Society.
“It’s like Mardi Gras… but for Irish people,” one parade goer was overheard exclaiming.
The procession began at Veterans Park, continued up Washington and North Main Streets, and ended near O’Neill’s Pub under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-40s. Chief Building Official and lifelong Norwalker Bill Ireland served as Grand Marshal.
