Opinion: Norwalk ACTS director’s weekly shout outs

Anthony Allison

Anthony Allison is the executive director of Norwalk ACTS.

Shout Out to Norwalk ACTS’ Data Director Paula Palermo, who just finished an eight-month fellowship sponsored by StriveTogether and the Tableau Foundation. Tableau is a powerful data visualization software that enables new and creative ways to communicate and understand data. The fellowship team was comprised of data representatives from 17 StriveTogether partners from around the country. They convened at Tableau offices in Austin, Washington D.C. and Seattle, as well as in online webinars to receive training and share successes and challenges in their efforts to effectively view, analyze and share education data to improve each partner’s outcomes.

“I am so proud to be a part of this group of Tableau Fellows. The brainpower and ingenuity that these folks bring to the table is incredible. Thank you StriveTogether and Tableau Foundation for this opportunity. There was connection and engagement among all of us that was palpable,” said Paula.

The Tableau Team, along with last year’s Fellows, are committed to continuing to work together to advance the collective impact work and improve education for more children.

Paula’s first project was the TEAM Summer Resource Portal which has provided a directory of summer learning opportunities for our Norwalk community. Upcoming projects will include a similar portal for early childhood resources, as well as data mapping and analysis of early childhood, as well as summer learning data.

“This software is an essential tool in helping us improve our education data systems in order to better serve Norwalk’s children,” added Paula.
