Shout Out to all the young people from Norwalk, the surrounding area, and around the world who participated in the March 24th March for Our Lives rallies. We are deeply inspired and motivated by their commitment to ending gun violence.
Shout Out to all Norwalk students who participated in last Saturday’s Norwalk Public Schools STEM Expo at Brien McMahon High School. The second annual citywide event, themed “Innovation,” focused on the ability of students to think, question, design, create, struggle, collaborate, try, solve, invent, reflect and learn. Projects included catapults, structures built to withstand earthquakes, robotics and more. Judges comprised of educators, city officials, representatives from local agencies, honored dignitaries and community partners awarded “STEM Championship” trophies in all divisions throughout the day.
“As students prepared for the upcoming Expo, they honed their communication, collaboration and problem solving skills. These skills will continue to be used as building blocks throughout their educational careers and beyond,” said Interim Chief Academic Officer Craig Creller.
Shout Out to 57 Norwalk Public School (NPS) students who recently presented their unique inventions to judges at the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) regionals in Hamden. Invention ideas ranged from an ice cream cone crate to a “vacuum snake” used to help clean baseboard heaters. Thirty-one NPS students were selected to move on to compete at the CIC finals on Saturday, April 28 at Gampel Pavilion at the UCONN Storrs campus. Congratulations and good luck!
