NORWALK, Coon. – The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) has endorsed Chris Perone for reelection to the state House of Representatives from the 137th District.

Perone, a five-term incumbent, survived a primary challenge and is facing a perfunctory challenge in November from Republican Town Committee Vice Chairman Art Scialabba, who has promised not to annoy citizens by campaigning.

“Chris Perone has been a strong voice for small business and has worked tirelessly to improve economic opportunities for both owners and employees,” said CBIA Executive Vice President Joe Brennan in an emailed statement. “We’re happy to endorse him for the 137th district and believe he will help make Connecticut a better place to do business.”

CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies.

“It is an honor to be recognized for the work I have done,” Perone said in the statement.

Making Connecticut more business-friendly has been a major topic in the campaign thus far, and a Quinnipiac poll recently said the economy and jobs are the two primary concerns on voters’ minds. The subject dominated a recent local TV debate between 142nd District candidates Andy Garfunkel and Fred Wilms.

“By growing the economy in Connecticut, we are ensuring that the city of Norwalk and its small business community will thrive into the future,” Perone said.

This is a meaningful endorsement considering the beleaguered state of Connecticut business.
