Readers turn out to support NoN at Fat Cat fundraiser

NORWALK, Conn. – The much-ballyhooed first-ever NancyOnNorwalk Pizza Fundraiser at Fat Cat Pie Co. went off without a hitch Thursday night, if you don’t count having it Thursday night instead of Wednesday as a “hitch.”

Bumped from its original date by the Tuesday-Wednesday snow and ice storm, the event still drew about 60 NoN supporters who opened their hearts – and their checkbooks – to help keep independent watchdog journalism alive in Norwalk.

Fat Cat Pies, which donated the space, kept the pizza and salad coming, courtesy of a donor who requested anonymity. The crowd, which included several elected officials and city employees, hung around to chat and enjoy the company.

For Nancy Chapman, who started the news site just over 15 months ago with the help of web designer son Eric, the event was more than encouraging.

“I had no idea what to expect,” she said of the crowd. “It was wonderful to see so many people come out. It was affirming, and the comments were heart-warming.”

NancyOnNorwalk extends a heartfelt “thank-you” to all who attended and reached out to help keep NoN moving forward.

I hope you understand that only a very tiny percentage of your fans were able to attend. Please keep up the good work.

As mentioned at the event, NON is the watchdog of our civic honesty. Long may you endure.
