NORWALK, Conn. – Who said summers are slow in the news business?

Between the primary election, the proposed mosque settlement and the Farm Creek controversy, things have been hopping at NancyOnNorwalk.

We have been with you every step of the way, breaking news, debunking myths, responding to questions and supplying documents to keep you informed and up to date.

A great way to stay on top of things is to sign up for the Daily Newsdown, our daily email with links to what’s new on the site that day. And, on Sunday, there’s a special edition, a recap of what went down over the past week, written in a more cheeky style and linked to stories you might have missed but need to read.

Signing up for the Newsdown also gets you our breaking news alerts. We promise not to annoy you several times every day about stories that really can wait. We take the term “breaking news” seriously and use it judiciously. If NancyOnNorwalk sends you an alert, it mean business.

We also remind you that there is no big corporation or trust behind NancyOnNorwalk. We are an independent ma-and-pa operation, two full time, experienced, professional journalists on a mission to keep local government coverage alive as the traditional media crumbles around us. Hyperlocal, non-profit websites like ours are popping up all over the country, picking up the slack as traditional media companies shrink their print news holes, lay off staff and resort to “click bait” and other tactics online to inflate traffic numbers for advertisers.

Our survival – and our ability to serve you as your eyes and ears when it comes to your tax dollars – depends on your donations. If you feel NancyOnNorwalk provides a valuable service, consider donating to help keep us in business. There is a donation button near the top right side of the page, or you can send us a check at Nancy On Norwalk, P.O. Box 64, Norwalk, CT 06856 (don’t be thrown off by the Englewood Edge header — it’s our Florida site and the PayPal account is tied in).

In addition, we will be holding a musical fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at The Norwalk Inn & Conference Center at 99 East Ave. Suggested donation is $30. There will be plenty of great food, a cash bar and live jazz with Mike Camacho & Friends.

So help us help you stay informed about the most important news in Norwalk – the news that affects your bank account and your quality of life.
