Sign up now for the NEF Community Spelling Bee

NORWALK, Conn. – So you think you can spell? Now’s your chance to prove it and, in the process, support the Norwalk Education Foundation.

The NEF will host its second annual Community Spelling Bee at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Norwalk City Hall. Last year, more than 20 teams raised $11,000. This year, the goal is $15,000.

Teams will be made up of teachers, parents, high school students, community members, local officials, and area businesses. Teams are encouraged to create a team name, wear unique costumes, and to bring a cheering section. Winners will receive the grand prize of $500. Last year’s winners donated their prize to two local schools.

The Spelling Bee is designed to celebrate learning while raising awareness and support for the foundation’s programs and initiatives.

There’s still time to sign on as a team or sponsor:

• Sponsor a team of three individuals to represent your organization and compete in the Bee.

• Make a financial contribution as a “sponsor” of the event.

• Donate an in-kind item to be used as a prize.

• Rally a team of three together to compete.

There’s a $150 registration fee for teams, but student teams are not required to pay the fee. See the NEF sponsor forms to check out sponsor opportunities. Supporters will receive event program, Facebook and website recognition.

For entry forms and sponsor forms, see the NEF website.
