NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk is digging out from a humongous amount of snow Saturday, with the city of Norwalk promising to have all roads cleared by 7 p.m.

A snow emergency remains in effect in Norwalk and Mayor Richard Moccia has asked residents to observe the state-wide travel ban. Department of Public Works crews have been on duty since the storm began, a press release said, adding, “Barring unforeseen difficulties, plowing of all roads is projected to be complete by 7 p.m.”

School and other parking lots will be completed after that time, with DPW staff wrapping up by midnight tonight, the release said. GPS units are mounted on all vehicles, allowing supervisors to verify that snow plow routes are completed prior to staff being released. While it is expected that all streets will be clear, residents are asked not to expect all streets to be cleared until Sunday, the release said.

Customer Service is staffed to take complaints, but the city asks you to be patient. Report downed wires or power outages directly to Connecticut Light and Power by calling 800-286-2000 or go to the company’s website.

Norwalk Transit has canceled service for today. Norwalk Libraries will remain closed today.

Meanwhile, on Facebook there is some good advice: When you are out shoveling make sure you clear vents, air intakes or exhausts for appliances such as boilers, furnaces, hot water heaters, generators and clothes dryers. Blocked openings have the potential to cause carbon monoxide to build up in buildings.

One Facebook user said, “I feel like I’m in the movie ‘Day after Tomorrow,’ attempting to dig out. Best part troops are barking to work faster.”

I made a decision to caucus with the the republicans because I don’t TRUST THE DEMS. Mr. PENA has said that I was telling the mayor what was said in caucus. I deny that. The democrats never confronted me about this, they went to the press. NOT one of them had the told me about this.
