NORWALK, Conn. – Noticeable progress is being made on the mixed used development under construction where the Norwalk Company building used to be, across the street from the Norwalk Aquarium.
With the parking garage going up next to the railroad tracks on what had been an expanse of dirt for only three or four months, a representative of Spinnaker Realty Partners LLC led a group of prospective commercial tenants out for a look-see Thursday.
Spinnaker founder and CEO Clay Fowler refused to say who those tenants might be. But the addition of apartments will be good for SoNo, he said.
“That’s what we need, more people in South Norwalk,” he said. “Helps the merchants.”
There are 107 rental units planned for the 130,000-square-foot, mixed-use development known as 20 North Water St., with 17,500 square feet of retail space and 3,200 square feet of restaurant space on the ground floor.
Fowler said there are usually 30 to 40 construction workers on the job at this point, depending on the weather. He said, “It will be 50 to 60 once we get the precast people on the job.”
