NORWALK, Conn. – Are you registered to vote?
The Norwalk League of Women Voters will hold a voter registration drive at the from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today (Sept. 21) at the Department of Motor Vehicles, 540 Main Ave. and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the same location.
Connecticut residents can register to vote if they are age 18 or older, or will be 18 by Election Day, Nov. 5. If you have moved to another town, you need to re-register with your new address. It’s also recommended that you renew your registration if you have changed your name (for example by marriage) or have not voted in several years.
Elsa Peterson Obuchowski, a member of the Norwalk League of Women Voters steering committee and coordinator of the voter registration drive, said, “When I was younger I lived in New York City and I never managed to figure out where to go to register to vote. I felt like I didn’t count, and I don’t want other people to feel that way. I believe registering and voting should be easy and transparent. Our government is government of the people, by the people – without voters, we would not have a government.”
