NORWALK, Conn. – Reports from City Hall as of 6 p.m. indicated that the turnout for today’s Norwalk municipal election is up about 1,600 from 2011.
As of 6 p.m., 13,343 voters, or 30.12 percent of those eligible, had cast their ballots across the city. In 2011, the 4 p.m. figure was 11,657 or 27.94 percent.
Figures were provided by Democratic Registrar Stuart Wells.
This is the first year in Connecticut for election day voter registration (EDR), and, as of 6 p.m., Wells said, Norwalk had 60 EDR voters.
“As one would expect with this low EDR turnout, there have been no problems contacting former towns and clearing the voter’s ballot,” he said.
