We need your support today

NORWALK, Conn. – What if you woke up tomorrow, logged on to NancyOnNorwalk.com – and it was gone?

What if you had to depend, once again, on a single source for news about what is happening in Norwalk – not just what’s happening in the meetings and developers’ board rooms, but what’s happening behind the scenes?

It could happen.

There are no elves that come in the night to write and post the news you read online. To create the NancyOnNorwalk news package takes two people working full time, plus a web designer and technician working part time to keep it running.

How much do you value what NancyOnNorwalk brings to the table?

For the past year, a relatively small group of appreciative readers has kept NoN in business through their generous donations. Ditto for the occasional advertisers. But the vast majority of our thousands of readers have enjoyed NoN for free.

Well, push is coming to shove, and if you want NancyOnNorwalk to continue on its mission to bring you all the news of how your tax money is being used, and how your elected and appointed official are carrying out their duties, we ask that you make a small contribution.

If every reader gave one dollar a month, it would, combined with the small amount of ad dollars, barely support the site. But every reader will not donate a dollar a month.

A local print product charges $1 a day on the newsstand, or 13 weeks at $32.50, or about 37 cents a day. A quarter of our readers donating half that amount would support NoN for a month.

Please consider a small donation today. Whatever you can afford – whatever you thing NoN is worth to you – will help keep us going.

We need the community – our readers – to let us know, and let us know now, if they want NancyOnNorwalk to be a part of their lives. That’s how capitalism works. The market speaks. We are listening.

Make checks payable to Nancy On Norwalk. Mail it to Nancy On Norwalk, P.O. Box 64, Norwalk, CT 06856. Or, simply click on the DONATE button on the right side of the page and follow the prompts.

Thank you.

A check will be on the way in about 15 minutes.

      @Casey

Thank you. We greatly appreciate everyone who has helped out in the past, and hope that those who can and have not will do so now. There is much work to be done here.

Ask Warren Pena to donate some of that SoNoCC money or LULAC money for NoN.

  3. Nora King

What a nasty comment Bill. Will send a check.

  4. Kathleen Montgomery

Agree, Nora. Mark, I will do so next Wednesday.

Thank you so much.We do appreciate it.

Truth about Warren hurts…stop trying to excuse the corruption

Lisa Thomson is on the Nancy on Norwalk Board. I will not support a blog that has RedApple support. It’s bad enough that the Board is run by a RedApple group. Is Norwalk turning Red?

    1. Mark Chapman

      @MarjorieM

The board, which has not formed yet but will likely include Lisa Thomson, will have nothing to do with the editorial side of the operation, and the editorial side will not be taking into consideration any board members’ policies or affiliations. But if you choose to not support the site, that is fine — I am sure The Daily Voice will be happy to have you.

    .
I believe Lisa Thomson volunteers for multiple good causes, not just the Red Apples. Will you refuse to donate to all of those good causes just because Ms. Thomson is involved?
    .
Perhaps it would be helpful to you if Ms. Thomson provided a list of everything she has contributed time or money to over the past fifteen years, so that you can be sure to not to support any of them. While we’re at it, let’s include Ms. Thomson’s favorite sports teams and breakfast cereals so you can avoid them too.

Everyone needs to get over petty disputes with other people who comment on this board, who you are frenemies with should have nothing to do with whether or not you support NoN, an organization we all should support.

I would like to send more for what NON has been worth to me and my family!

To everyone who finds writing the occasional check unwieldy, there is an alternative strategy – try a monthly automatic deduction addressed to the LLC as requested above – at a flat rate in perpetuity.
    *
Our sum must be paltry, unfortunately, but it is part of our monthly budget we don’t have to think about, like the internet, oil, electrical, bills, etc.
    *
It takes less than five minutes to set up, you are in control, and NON can receive a monthly sum consistently and at the time you wish to pay it.
    *
For us, writing a one-time check, though I am sure GREATLY appreciated by NON, is unwieldy given our budget. This is a way to still give that adds up, at least a bit, over the year without stretching the budget beyond our means.

As always, thanks to NON for an incredible resource (really! I don’t know of another East or West coast quite so effective and on the spot for our local and state news) and for the hard, hard work this represents.

      Suzanne,

Thanks you so much. And the amount of your check is hardly paltry. If only 10 percent of our monthly readers (according to Quantcast statistics) did as you do, it would assure Nancy On Norwalk existence for as long as we can physically keep it up — hopefully many years. We greatly appreciate any and all amounts.
